Yesterday marked the 99th birthday of our National Park Service. This agency helps protect our unique outdoor spaces for current and future generations alike. In a lead up to their 100th birthday in 2016, the White House announced the Every Kid in a Park Initiative.
With more than 80% of American families living in urban areas, many lack easy access to safe outdoor spaces. To encourage our youth to get outdoors and enjoy our great country, the Every Kid in a Park Initiative is giving free admission to all of our national parks, federal lands, and waters for all fourth graders and their families. This free admission begins September 1, 2015 and continues through August 31, 2016.
Do you have a fourth grader or know someone who does? If so, pass this around. You can find more information at the National Park Service Foundation’s website and you can help this effort by signing a pledge. More information will be available soon. Get outdoors with your family and enjoy our great country!
