The opportunity came for me to attend the opening of the new roller coaster, Wild Eagle at Dollywood. For those of you that know me well, I don’t take these invites lightly. After careful deliberation for all of about two seconds, I jumped at the opportunity.
The spring festivities at Dollywood are centered around the Festival of Nations. Here you can experience sounds and sights of other cultures around the world.
Dollywood has one of my favorite wooden coasters, Thunderhead. It has a great combination of speed, air time, and intensity.
But the real story of the day was Wild Eagle, the new wing rider coaster that was debuting. It is a Bolliger and Mabillard (B&M) creation and the first of it’s kind in the United States! Riders strap in on either side of the train with nothing below them and under them.
Over the course of 3,127 feet you will experience four inversions, drop over 135 feet, and reach speeds of up to 61 mph! You will surely want to ride the Wild Eagle!
